two songs for the dark;

There are many things to say about modern worship songs, both good and bad, but one of them is this – I have yet to hear one that is about preaching the gospel to oneself in times of darkness, doubt and disbelief. Glad to have found these two lovely remakes of old hymns that do that (:

Begone, Unbelief

Though dark be my way, since He is my guide,

‘Tis mine to obey, ’tis His to provide;

Though cisterns be broken and creatures all fail,

The word He has spoken will surely prevail.

O My Soul, Arise

Five bleeding wounds He bears, received on Calvary,

They pour effectual prayers, they strongly plead for me;

‘Forgive him, O forgive,’ they cry,

‘Forgive him, O forgive,’ they cry,

‘Don’t let that ransomed sinner die!’
